The challenge of photography is not as much learning how to use the camera as it is being in the right place at the right time.  One might wait as long as an hour for the exact conditions to develop, whereas at other times there is barely enough time to set up the tripod and shoot away.

List of songs from the liner notes

  1. Race for Life by Joe Couri and Tom Higgins, c. 1994. It was written for the Komen Race for the Cure, and used in radio commercials and at the race. It was dedicated to the memory of my mother and godmother who died from breast cancer.
  1. Freedom’s Lonesome Cry by Joe Couri, Tom Higgins, Stephen Foster and Robin c. 2022. It is about an Underground Railroad station in Peoria in the 1840s.

       3. On a Quest by Joe Couri and Gary Nabors, c. 2016. Quest  Magnet               School was in Peoria. The song was used at graduation, and was on             their website.

       4. It’s Naturally Yours by Joe Couri and Barry Cloyd, c. 2013. It was                   written for the Peoria Zoo when it expanded. Barry sings lead and               Joe sings harmony. It has been performed at events. A video with                 the song and my photos was produced.

       5. Can You Hear Me by Joe Couri and Tom Higgins, c. 2022. It was                     written for a Methodist Medical Center child and adolescent                         behavioral health unit, and used to raise awareness.

  1. Don’t Start by Joe Couri, War Muhammad and Romell Lanier, c. 2017. It is a song and music video with a message of prevention to youth about risky behaviors. We have performed the song or shown the video to over 3,000 kids. We then have good discussions to further promote the message. We were named co hip hop Artists of the Year in 2018 by The Akademia Music Awards in Los Angeles for our work through our initiative.

       7. What We Do Best by Joe Couri and Scott Ibe, c. 2015. It is for the                   Midwest Food Bank in Peoria. There is a video with the song and                 photos on their website.

       8.  One Step Closer by Joe Couri and Bob Edelson, c. 1988. This St Jude              Affiliate plays a vital role in Peoria in the treatment of childhood                  cancer. Bob sings lead and Joe sings harmony. The song and music              video have been used on the telethon and at fundraisers.

  1. Song for Leah by Joe Couri, c. 1986. It was written for an elderly patient struggling with her illness. The song was played at her funeral.

     10. The Promise of Peoria by Joe Couri and Scott Ibe, c. 2013. The                        Peoria Promise Foundation funds scholarships to graduating high                school students at Illinois Central College. It has been sung at                      fundraisers.

  1. Arty by Joe Couri, c. 1985. The song and music video were used in past years on the Greater Illinois Arthritis Foundation Telethon and by other state Foundation chapters. It was sung at local, regional and national Foundation meetings.

     12. Senior World by Joe Couri and Bob Edelson, c. 1987.Peoria Senior                 World is a day care center which provides respite care for seniors.               Bob and Joe share the lead singing, and Joe sings harmony. The                   song and music video were used to publicize the center. I sang it                 several times for the clients.

  1. Crittenton is the Light by Joe Couri, Gary Nabors and Tom Higgins, c. 2017. Crittenton Crisis Nursery plays a critical role for struggling parents. It has been sung at fundraisers. A video with the song and photos is on their website.
  1. A Magnet for Success by Joe Couri, c. 2004. It was written for the Methodist Medical Center nursing department. It has been submitted with the application for the Magnet Award several times and sung at hospital events.
  1. Our Greatest Generation by Joe Couri, c. 2004. It is dedicated to the memory of my grandparents’ generation who founded the Itoo Society in 1914.  It was used as a fundraiser for the school in the village of Aitou in Lebanon, and sung at society events.
  1. We’re Always There by Joe Couri, c. 1997. Written for our local United Way and used in the 75th anniversary campaign video and at multiple celebrations.
  1. I Don’t Want to Stop Loving You by Joe Couri, c. 1987. I sang it to my wife at our wedding reception.
  1. Methodist on the Go by Joe Couri and Bob Edelson, c. 1988. Written for a Methodist Medical Center public relations. Bob and Joe trade lead singing on the melody and Joe sings harmony. A video with the song and photos was produced.
